You’re never too far from some form of luxury in the Thai capital, particularly with the recent opening of One Bangkok, the city’s latest go-to destination for dining, boutique shopping and art. Pair that with Ritz-Carlton’s debut in the sleek 216-metre-high tower and the choice of glamorous accommodation has become even more varied.
Since December 4, the Ritz-Carlton at One Bangkok has been officially welcoming discerning guests to experience the luxury that blends Thai traditions with global influences, offering a timeless yet modern city escape.
Leveraging off a worldwide property portfolio, the new Ritz-Carlton occupies 24 floors. Overlooking Lumpini Park, it’s a serene retreat in the heart of the city and yet remains thoroughly connected to myriad sites and attractions.
The hotel shines the spotlight on the capital’s rich cultural heritage but showcases contemporary elegance at the same time. Upon arrival, guests are greeted by an expansive hall that serves as an invitation to a journey into design innovation. Elements inspired by Thai history are evident throughout, such as a grand archway in the reception space that takes inspiration from one of the royal cottages at Dusit Palace.
Check-in happens on the eighth floor, where you’ll find a lobby set around a pond and glass lotus flower sculptures by Thai artist Nathakorn Kanitvaranun. At sunset, the scene takes on a magical hue as the golden hour casts a warm glow throughout the space.
The hotel boasts 260 rooms, some featuring private terraces, all with floor-to-ceiling windows offering panoramic views of the city skyline. Room choices range from the 50-square-meter Deluxe to the expansive 102-square-meter Gardenia Suites and 127-square-meter Marigold and Amaranth Suites. A fun touch in every room is the ‘cabinet of curiosities’, in which guests can discover a range of drinks hidden in each drawer.
To further connect guests to the local culture, The Ritz-Carlton offers a range of daily activities. Among them is the Defining Moment on the hotel’s terrace, offering guests a new take on the traditional ‘Klong Yao’ (long drum) ceremony. Also available is a New Generation tour of the One Bangkok Art Loop, an immersive experience that introduces visitors to the dynamic world of local creativity.
Eat, Drink, Do
Dining here is an experience in itself. Duet by David Toutain serves modern French cuisine in a glasshouse environment. Lily’s puts a contemporary spin on classic dishes, while Caleō offers afternoon teas and cocktails, ideal for unwinding after a day of activity or for a pre-dinner drink or post-meal nightcap.
Does the hotel have a spa?
Yes, it does and it’s a haven of tranquillity and wellness. The Ritz-Carlton Spa features five private treatment rooms, a suit for couples and a relaxation pod. A well-equipped fitness centre is also available for those with a desire to work up a sweat.
How much does it cost per night?
Prices vary according to the season. In December, rates start at B16,500 for a Deluxe King Room with Balcony and B36,000 for a Marigold King Suite with Balcony.
What is connectivity like?
The Lumphini MRT (underground) station is just a short walk away and access to the BTS Skytrain system is available at nearby Saladaeng station on Silom Road, providing easy links to all of the capital’s key entertainment, shopping and sight-seeing districts.
