4 shops to get sweet, soft and flaky cronuts in Bangkok

It’s nothing new—a croissant in the shape of a donut—but we still can’t get enough of this flaky, crunchy pastry.

A few years back, you were probably very excited to try the cronut, a then-innovative sweet treat that created a hybrid out of a croissant and a donut. The pastry piqued our interest and tickled our taste buds, and we couldn’t wait to get our hands on them.

Like most crazes, this one seems to have petered out. Unlike before, the flaky cronut is now a rare find in pastry shops and bakeries, which can be frustrating for die-hard fans of the sugary treat.

Luckily, a few baking houses in the city have retained the cronut in their menus. Here’s a list.

ChikaLicious Dessert Bangkok

This popular dessert shop goes hard in churning out a variety of sweet treats, from cakes to breads to cronuts, or Dough’ssants as they call it. Five versions are offered: Brulee, Chocolate, Apple Crumble, Nutella, and Oreo (B100 each).

Delivery via LINE MAN or Robinhood.

CPS Coffee

Fashion brand CPS CHAPS has expanded into the food business with a coffeehouse that’s devoted to serving cool drinks and snacks for the new generation. Included in its line-up are cronuts, which have become a menu favorite. There are two flavors to choose from: Dirty Dark Chocolate Cronut and Vanilla Crèam Caramel Cronut (B150 each).

All of the CPS Coffee branches are temporarily closed at the moment due to the government’s regulations. Please check the official Facebook page here for the update.

Delivery via GrabFood, LINE MAN, or Robinhood.

This casual French fine-dining restaurant has embarked on a side hustle during the lockdown, producing comfort fare such as burgers, hot dogs and scrumptious cronuts (B450 for a box of four).

Cronut flavors change over time, but we’ve tried Mascarpone Truffle, Apple Pie, Red Velvet, and Salted Caramel Popcorn—and you should too!

  • Ekamai

Located in Ekkamai, Susan Croissant has established itself as one of the most popular croissant purveyors in the city. Its wide-ranging menu covers all flavor profiles, from savory to sweet.

Cronuts are also on offer. The bakery calls them “frido” and makes them in creative variants like Spicy Tobiko Salad (B159), Creamy Almond (B159), and the fruity JAM JAM (B350).
