For years, we constantly complained that Thai museums, particularly the public ones, are tedious, outdated and even spooky. No longer. These institutions have undergone gradual refurbishment and will each unveil a new look before the end of this year. But prior to that, the Department of Fine Arts, a government organization that manages official museums around Thailand, plans to wow us with a new portal website and a mobile application called Smart Museum—both feature a nicely designed interface and offer 360-degree views within more than 40 museums around the country.
