Inspired by her faith in Hindu gods—Lord Brahma, in particular—the Central Group's Surangrat Chirathivat is organizing a grand Belief is the Answer prayer session at the Erawan Shrine. The businesswoman has commissioned Sakul Intakul, one of Thailand's best-known florists and the founder of the Museum of Floral Culture in Samsen, to design an extravagant flower arrangement to show devotion to the creator god. Sakul’s flower exhibition will be displayed at the shrine for three days starting from 15 November.
The talented florist, inspired by the temples in Southern India, uses five types of flowers in the elaborate arrangement, all of which, according to local belief, have positive meanings: marigold for prosperity, crown flower and rose for love, jasmine for love between mother and child, and amaranth for longevity.
As the Erawan Shrine is one of Bangkok's most popular tourist attractions, and this year’s ritual is endorsed by the Tourism Authority of Thailand, both Surangrat and Sakul hope this will become an annual event.
