Time Out says

On a lazy evening, there’s nothing better than to sip a good drink while listening to great music—and you can do both at Freaking Out the Neighborhood.

Situated on Soi Sukhumvit 36 (Soi Naphasap 1), Freaking Out the Neighborhood, spearheaded by Kiratra Promsaka Na Sakolnakorn (one of the founders of music promotions company Have You Heard?), offers a different music bar experience by playing a record front-to-back instead of blasting out random tunes put together into one long playlist on loop.

Kiratra rotates the albums depending on the mood of the day or to celebrate a special occasion like International Jazz Day. She even allows guests to bring their own records to play at the bar, as long as it falls into the category of the day.

As such, the whole Freaking Out the Neighborhood feels like you’re chilling in your own room or hanging out at a friend’s place. A wooden counter bar takes up over half of the room, the design intended to help guests engage in the music rather than in conversation. Small tables have been set up, however, for more extroverted guests who want to chat in between tracks. One corner of the bar features a small shop selling vinyls and music merch curated by Have You Heard? Records.

Freaking Out the Neighborhood also makes it easy for you to choose your drink for the night. The menu only includes classic cocktails like highball, gin and tonic, and negroni (starting from B200). Wine and beer are also served, as well as bar nibbles such as chicken teriyaki (from B150).

In this music-streaming era, it’s rare for people to sit down and enjoy an entire album like the good old days. So why don’t you log out of your Spotify for a while and try a different listening experience at Freaking Out the Neighborhood.
