The Memorial Bridge, or Saphan Phut as it is known among locals, is a historic landmark that dates back to the 1930s in the reign of King Rama VII. During World War II, the bascule bridge barely survived the mass bombing of Bangkok by the Allies. Now, the bridge is a popular spot among pedestrians who fancy a beautiful stroll over the Chao Phraya River from Thonburi to Phra Nakhon.
