Friday evening

With its laid-back vibes and charm, Pererenan has recently claimed the title of Asia’s coolest neighbourhood – and for good reason. Nestled next to bustling Canggu, this up-and-coming enclave is an ideal base for your 48-hour Bali adventure. Begin by checking into your accommodation. Design enthusiasts will love Further Hotel, a contemporary escape surrounded by picturesque rice fields. Don’t mind being in a more secluded location? Nature lovers might prefer Lodge in the Woods, a cabin-style retreat offering rustic charm – complete with rescued horses and farm animals.

Once settled, make your way to La Brisa, a bohemian beachfront bar perched along Echo Beach. Order a tropical cocktail, sink into a cosy beanbag, and watch the sun dip below the horizon as the sound of waves and cool sea breezes set the tone for your Bali weekend.

Friday late night

Kick off your evening with a taste of authentic Balinese cuisine at Pali, a charming eatery housed in a traditional teakwood rumah joglo overlooking serene paddy fields. Tuck into a hearty bowl of bakmi pali, featuring egg noodles topped with your choice of chicken or minced pork, fresh greens, beansprouts, and crispy wontons. If you’re craving something more substantial, opt for the nasi campur rendang, a flavourful plate of mixed rice accompanied by tender, slow-cooked beef rendang and an assortment of sides.

After dinner, take a leisurely stroll through Canggu, known for its eclectic boutiques and homegrown Indonesian brands. Browse through Hijack Sandals for stylish footwear or discover tropical-inspired apparel at Bamboo Blonde and Thread Farm. End your shopping spree at Love Anchor, an open-air market offering sustainable fashion, handcrafted jewellery, and artisanal home décor. It’s a delightful spot to pick up unique treasures and souvenirs.

Saturday morning

Rise early and make the hour-long journey to Ubud for a tranquil morning. Begin your day with a peaceful stroll along Campuhan Ridge, a picturesque trail that winds above the forest canopy, offering stunning views of lush greenery. We’d recommend starting your walk from the north, where you can explore charming warungs and local shops along the way. The trail leads to Pura Gunung Lebah, a serene temple at the confluence of the Wos Rivers, perfect for a reflective pause before continuing your adventure.

Saturday midday

After your scenic walk, recharge with brunch at bohemian cafe Zest Ubud, known for its vibrant plant-based menu, aromatic coffee, and smoothies. The airy space is adorned with paintings, lush greenery, and views of Campuhan Ridge. Alternatively, opt for a traditional meal at Murni’s Warung or the homely Waroeng Bernadette, both serving delicious local dishes in cosy settings.

Make your way to Ubud Centre, the beating heart of Bali’s cultural scene. Wander through the Ubud Traditional Art Market, where you’ll find a treasure trove of handmade crafts and souvenirs. Then, visit the Saraswati Temple, an architectural gem framed by blooming lotus ponds. Animal lovers can head to the Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary, home to over 600 playful long-tailed macaques – but keep an eye on your belongings, as these cheeky residents have sticky fingers!

Saturday evening

As you make your way back to Pererenan, stop by Tanah Lot, one of Bali’s most iconic temples. Grab a snack or drink from nearby vendors and take in the stunning sight of waves crashing against the temple’s rocky base as the sun sets.
