Most romantic restaurants in Bali

  • Indonesian

Vibe A sophisticated, intimate spot serving modern Indonesian cuisine with a fine dining twist.

Why we love it Tucked away from Seminyak’s bustling main streets, Sangsaka exudes Balinese elegance with its dim lighting, warm wooden interiors, and open kitchen.

The menu features inventive takes on traditional Indonesian flavours, like the slipper lobster dumplings with laksa (90,000 IDR per piece) and ink noodles with river prawns (170,000 IDR).

Pair your meal with a curated wine selection or locally inspired cocktails. We love the Jaffa negroni, which consists of East Indies gin, Campari, vermouth, tangerine, and chocolate (140,000 IDR).

Time Out tip Book the Chef's Tasting Menu for a truly special Valentine’s evening (starting at 850,000 IDR per person) and request a table in the corner for extra privacy.

  • Fusion

Vibe A riverside hotspot known for its romantic 100-candle dinners.

Why we love it Perched beside the Ayung River, Swept Away offers a hard-to-beat blend of tranquillity and romance. Choose the candlelight dinner package (3,500,000 IDR per couple) for a magical setup featuring a custom menu and private riverside table surrounded by glowing candles.

The food is a combo of Western and Asian flavours, with highlights including the tamarind marinated pork belly (265,000 IDR) and grilled marinated baby snapper with deep-fried eels (210,000 IDR). Don’t be surprised to see a proposal while dining here.

Time Out tip If you buy the candlelight dinner package, you can also request a complimentary photoshoot for the occasion. One photo is included, but you can pay for extras.

  • Mediterranean

Vibe A sleek, multi-level restaurant blending Latin American and Mediterranean influences.

Why we love it With its industrial-chic design and sleek rooftop terrace, Santanera is perfect for a romantic evening. The menu is all about cross-cultural culinary artistry, featuring organic, farm-to-plate produce crafted into smoked, whipped, marinated, fermented or chargrilled delicacies meant for sharing.

Signature dishes include chargrilled octopus (220,000 IDR), duck and wild mushroom empanadas (55,000 IDR each), and an excellent selection of South American wines. For ceviche lovers, the red snapper ceviche with passion fruit, quinoa, and finger lime (130,000 IDR) is a must-try.

Time Out tip While Santanera hasn’t yet released its 2025 Valentine’s Day menu, last year, it had a four-course couples menu with live music upstairs.

Vibe A lavish fine-dining experience set in a 1920s-style colonial villa.

Why we love it Apéritif offers a seriously glamorous (yet intimate enough for date night) atmosphere, complete with grand chandeliers, marble accents, and a jungle view terrace.

The degustation menu (starting at 1,500,000 IDR per person) showcases the best range of dishes. You'll struggle to top the combination of Wagyu carpaccio and Ninuit Rosé. Not into wine? The adjacent bar is perfect for pre-dinner cocktails.

Time Out tip Apéritif’s seven-course romantic dinner package (2,500,000 IDR) will sweep you off your feet. Think caviar, cocktails, oysters, scallops, and Wagyu, finished with the pastry chef’s best dishes.

  • Indonesian

Vibe A premium treat-yourself take on traditional Indonesian dishes with a breathtaking clifftop setting.

Why we love it While a Warung typically describes a small, locally-owned Indonesian restaurant, Alila's version redefines it. Perched on the cliffs of Uluwatu, The Warung's open-air design is perfect for enjoying the gorgeous views over the Indian Ocean.

Expect hands-on service from staff who know the menu inside out, down to the best individual sauce for each course. Try the stir-fried tiger prawns with ginger (385,000 IDR) and sip a tamarind margarita (280,000 IDR).

Time Out tip You won't get sunset views from the main restaurant itself, but you’ll get them if you book the ultra-romantic Cabana for a private dining experience under the stars.

  • French

Vibe A garden-inspired spot offering Michelin-level fine dining.

Why we love it Mozaic seamlessly combines French haute cuisine with an unforgettable dining experience under the palm trees in Ubud.

Expect softly lit fairy lights and tropical foliage as a backdrop to some seriously creative dishes. While the Tasting Menu (1,350,000 IDR per person) changes regularly, it never misses: the confit trout with bell pepper and the seared foie gras are two recent must-tries.

While the wine pairing is truly excellent, the signature cocktails in the Tipple Room are also well worth exploring.

Time Out tip For Valentine’s Day, Mozaic is pulling out all the stops with an exclusive seven-course tasting menu by Chef Blake Thornley. It also includes a live cooking experience at The Chef’s Table (1,900,000 IDR per person).

  • Indonesian

Vibe A high-end culinary journey through Indonesian heritage with bronze-accented decor and unusual lighting.

Why we love it: Bejana, located inside The Ritz-Carlton, features state-of-n-air deck overlooking the ocean.

Start with crackers and sambal (freshly made at your table, no less) and order the Set Menu (1,500,000 IDR each) for a little of everything. It's basically a love letter to Indonesian cuisine – don't be surprised if the head chef wanders past to give you more details about the menu.

If your special someone is a self-confessed foodie, they'll love the bespoke nature of dining here.

Time Out tip Book a table on the upper floor to watch the food being prepared or on the lower level if you’d rather dine outside under the stars. If you want to go all out, start with the Rijsttafel ceremony (1,820,000 IDR for two) for a "rice table" feast.
