For a great start to the day, make Hopscotch Restaurant and Bar your go-to while you’re in town. Over a steaming cup of joe made with beans from specialty roaster Toby’s Estate, you can soak up the scenic views of Bicentennial Park and chow down on fresh and local produce. The menu features all-day breakfasts, with classics like the big breakfast, and an egg and bacon wrap; and highlights such as a toasted croissant with smashed avo, and truffled mushroom bruschetta. For lunch, order up the Nashville chicken burger, lamb sheesh kebab or roasted squash. There’s also a kids menu, and plenty of grab-and-go options if the little ones are feeling wriggly. Head over to the nearby Tamworth regional playground, where they can burn off some energy. Find out more here.

Pining for a pain au chocolate, danish or cinnamon scroll? Sonny’s Bakery is open every day, serving up trays of freshly baked goods. The whole family is catered to at this charming bakery, with babycinos for kids, an extensive coffee menu for the grown-ups, and a range of puppy treats if you’ve brought your four-legged friend. Grab a spot indoors or soak up some sunshine at an outdoor table while your doggo stretches their legs. If you’re after more than just a pastry, order up some Aussie classics including meat pies or smashed avo, or opt for a loaded salad or sandwich. Head back to the cabinets and pick a sweet treat to take away – we’d go for the vanilla slice or decadent chocolate brownie. Find the menu here.

The Bell House has gained a loyal following since it took over the historic St Andrews Church in 2021. Once a place of worship, the venue is now a light-filled café. Its architectural charm has been preserved, with high ceilings and stunning stained-glass windows. Inside, the walls showcase art available for purchase, while outside, a small garden with a fountain has been adapted with seating for alfresco dining. The menu offers a fusion of contemporary and classic dishes, featuring options like ricotta hotcakes and eggs benedict. Stick around for lunch and try the steak sandwich or a gluten free Vietnamese chicken salad. Check it out here.

Take in views of the green and tuck into a hearty meal at Tamworth Golf Club’s restaurant before heading out for nine holes. The menu is all about good pub grub. There’s a chicken parmi almost bigger than your plate, a rack of pork ribs with corn cobs, a salt and pepper spud, or a classic caesar salad. All the dishes are made using fresh and local produce, and there’s a dedicated kids menu. While there’s plenty of space, the restaurant is a hotspot for locals and can fill up quickly. Book a table here.

This luxury restaurant and heritage-listed homestead features seven beautifully restored cottages and panoramic vistas of rolling hills. Swing by for the top-tier menu, which features baked Turkish eggs and smoked salmon bagels in the morning, or relax over a leisurely lunch featuring the region’s finest seasonal produce, such as handmade king prawn agnolotti, slow-cooked Angus tri-tip and roasted New England chicken.

After opening in 2019, this snazzy café has brought a touch of specialty coffee sophistication to Tamworth’s country crowd. The baristas rotate between independent Aussie roasters, with house coffee from their friends at Floozy Coffee in Newcastle. You can also pick up daily baked goodies and bagels smooshed with avo or cream cheese.
