As Australia’s weather cools down, Europe’s heats up – and by the time May rolls around, it feels like half the country has migrated north for a taste of Eurosummer. While we’d all love to be sipping Spritzes in Italy or island hopping in Greece, there’s usually one major roadblock – the sky-high cost of flights. But don’t worry, we’ve got your back with a guide on the cheapest ways to get to Europe from May to September this year. Just save us a seat and a Sangria.
Melburnians are in luck this Eurosummer, scoring the cheapest flights to Europe for less than $1,000 return. According to Skyscanner data, savvy travellers can fly from Melbourne to Athens for as little as $936 return when departing on May 8 and returning on May 23, 2025. Sydneysiders can meet their Melbourne mates in Rome, with the Italian capital being the cheapest destination to fly to in Europe from Sydney this year. May and June are the most popular months for Aussies in Rome, with return fares for as low as $1,075 between June 4 and June 20, 2025.

Budget-conscious Brisbanites chasing a Eurosummer adventure in 2025 should look beyond the usual hotspots, because the cheapest flights are landing in Istanbul. You can jet off to the Turkish mecca for as little as $1,264 return when leaving on May 7 and coming home on June 4. That means more cash to splash on a once-in-a-lifetime hot air balloon ride over Cappadocia – which, funnily enough, costs about the same as a one-way ticket to Europe.
Those in Adelaide and Perth are in for a summer of love, with Paris emerging as the cheapest Eurosummer destination from both cities. May and June are peak months for Aussies heading to the French capital in 2025, with return flights starting from $1,225 from Perth and $1,264 from Adelaide.
As a bonus tip, Tuesday is the most popular day for flight price drops on Skyscanner's app-exclusive 'drops' feature, with 38 per cent of all deals being released before 9am. Bring on Eurosummer 2025!
