Australia’s dining scene is by far one of the best in the world – and this fact has once again been confirmed by La Liste, a highly regarded Paris-based restaurant ranking guide that’s just revealed its picks for the top 1,000 restaurants from around the world. This ranking is based on aggregated data from thousands of publications, hundreds of guidebooks and millions of online reviews – so you know if you make the cut, it's a pretty big deal. For 2025, 18 Australian restaurants secured spots in the top 50, proving once more that we live in one of the most delicious parts of the globe.

The biggest win of the night went to Melbourne’s legendary fine diner Vue de Monde, which was crowned as the joint fifth-best restaurant globally for 2025. In our Time Out Melbourne Food and Drink Writer Lauren Dinse’s recent review, she wrote that "after a kiss of new life, one of Melbourne’s long-reigning royals of the fine dining scene has awoken from its three-month beauty sleep a stunner". So, we're not surprised it's getting a whole lotta love on the global stage right now.
Hot on Vue de Monde's heels in tied sixth place was Sydney’s Oncore by Clare Smyth – a fancy five-star diner helmed by the first British-born woman to earn three Michelin stars. Melbourne’s Attica in Ripponlea was crowned the eighth-best restaurant in the world, while Sydney’s finest diner Quay took out the 11th spot. Regional Victoria’s modern Australian restaurant Brae and Adelaide’s native-inspired Restaurant Botanic both shared an impressive 14th place ranking.
