Luna! Daisy! Archie! If hearing these names instantly makes you think of a four-legged friend, you’re not alone. Recent doggy data has revealed Australia’s most popular dog names (and breeds) in 2024 – and we’re betting you know a pooch with at least one of them.

For its third annual Great Australian Dog Survey, dog food subscription company Scratch fetched facts from more than 3,000 Aussie dog owners. They not only tallied the most popular names and breeds, but dug up the dirt on general attitudes towards dogs and the role they play in Aussie households.

Roll call time! For the third year in a row, Luna topped the list as the most popular Australian dog name, with Daisy climbing to second place after a seven-spot jump since 2023. This trend of giving your furry pal a ‘human’ name continues, with Toby debuting in the top ten at third place, and Archie and Frankie completing the top five.

When it comes to the most popular Aussie dog breeds, the cavoodle (a charming mix of cavalier king Charles spaniel and poodle) once again took the crown (or bone). Border collies are barking at their tails in second place, followed by Labrador retrievers, golden retrievers and goldendoodles.

The 2024 Great Australian Dog Survey revealed some other furry facts, including the number of Aussies who let their dogs see them naked – and you can see the full results here.
