Queenslanders will be no strangers to The Calile Hotel. This swanky Brisbane stay was one of only two Australian venues to be recognised in the World’s 50 Best Hotel list, while also taking the title of the Best Hotel in Oceania for the second year running. Now, just one month after these impressive wins, The Calile has unveiled its latest plans to open a brand-new, five-star resort in Noosa.

The Sunshine Coast sibling – designed by the architects of the original hotel, Richards and Spence – is set to become Noosa’s first five-star hotel development in more than 30 years. This highly-anticipated project has been two years in the making for the Malouf family, and with approval from the Noosa Shire Council, construction is on track to kick off early next year.

Since opening in 2018, The Calile Hotel has attracted well-heeled clientele from around the globe to Brisbane, including Liam Hemsworth, Julia Roberts and Nigella Lawson. It’s safe to say The Calile's second property will draw in a similar crowd, with its signature sub-tropical aesthetic perfectly suited to the coastal charm of Noosa.

The five-star resort will take over a 2.4-hectare site at Serenity Close in Noosa Heads, just a five-minute drive or 20-minute walk from the bustling Hastings Street. Similar in capacity to its James Street sibling, the Noosa property will feature 153 rooms, 29 suites and four villas – all designed to deliver peak luxury. Guests can also look forward to a 50-metre main swimming pool, a second quiet pool set in a private garden and a wellness centre, with details about food and beverage offerings yet to be revealed.

Construction is expected to take three years, with the resort slated to open its doors in 2028. But as they say, good things take time – and this one’s sure to be worth the wait. In the meantime, check out our guide on the best things to do in Noosa right now
