Australians are a particularly snacky bunch. From meat pies and Vegemite scrolls to lamingtons and finger buns, we love anything that can be held in one hand and devoured on the go. With so many top-tier snacks Down Under, choosing what to have for your post-breakfast bite, lunchtime treat or midnight snack is no easy decision. Instead of giving the side-eye to see what others are reaching for at the supermarket, a new study has revealed the ten most popular snacks in Australia right now.

Despite racking up 49,700 monthly searches globally, the iconic Tim Tam has been trumped as Australia’s favourite snack. New research from Aussie courier service Pack and Send reveals that the humble Chiko Roll is the real winner for Australians, with a staggering 9,900 average monthly searches nationwide.

For out-of-towners, the Chiko Roll is like an Aussie spin on the Chinese spring roll. It’s typically filled with meat and veggies, all wrapped in thick pastry and deep-fried to golden, crunchy perfection. From fish and chip shops to service stations, supermarkets and bakeries, you’ll find this crunchy snack all around Australia. And really, is there any problem a bit of deep-fried goodness can’t solve?

The Tim Tam still holds a special place in the hearts of Australians, coming second with 8,900 average searches across the country each month. Other legends to make the list of Australia’s most popular snacks include Cheezels, Cherry Ripe, Lamingtons and Passiona – all scoring just under 5,000 monthly searches. You can check out the remainder of Australia’s favourite snacks below.
