After shredding it on the ski slopes or summiting snowy mountains, there’s nothing like sweating it out in a sauna and then plunging into icy open waters. This winter, you can turn your fairytale dreams into reality at Kuuma Sauna, Australia’s very first fully mobile sauna pontoon boat in South Tasmania.
The game plan here is simple: cruise, sweat, swim, repeat. Having launched just in time for winter, Kuuma Sauna offers both communal and private sauna sessions from sunrise to sunset. Each magical journey begins with a 20-minute cruise, where you’ll float along the calm waters of North West Bay, followed by a guided sauna session where you can sizzle away in the 80 degrees Celsius wood-fired sauna. When things get a bit too steamy, you can dive into the ice-cold open waters or cool down with an ice bucket shower.
Kuuma Sauna has been a four-year passion project for founders Chloe and Nathan Gore who designed and built the boat from scratch. With their design featuring expansive glass windows, guests can take in sweeping views of Tasmania’s breathtaking landscape.
“Our mission with Kuuma is to not only provide a unique wellness experience but also to grow the Australian sauna community," said Nathan Gore. “We believe in the power of sauna therapy to promote relaxation, health, and community, and we are excited to introduce Kuuma as a space where individuals can come together, connect, and prioritise their well-being."
Kuuma Sauna launches from Margate Marina, located a 20-minute drive South of Hobart. You can book a private session for up to eight people or a communal session with seven others here.
