Australia is one of the top three best countries to relocate to in 2025, according to a new study

When brainstorming the next place you want to call home, the first place you turn to is TikTok, right? 

In this modern age, we can’t ignore the influence social media has on our decision-making. That cool café you’re dying to visit? That dreamy Greek island? That hidden waterfall hike? You likely found them all while scrolling on TikTok or Instagram, or even good old Facebook.

So, while any study based on TikTok data should be taken with a grain of salt, it’s not completely illegitimate. Take this new one by money transfer site Remitly, which ranked the most popular expat destinations based on the number of hashtags related to living in or moving to that country.

Coming out on top is the always gorgeous Canada, which was the most popular expat destination, with an impressive 16,523 hashtags. Good for more than just a ski season, the Land of the Maple Leaf offers pristine lakes, fresh mountain air and endless outdoor adventures. Throw in universal healthcare, diverse job opportunities and incredibly friendly locals, and you’ve got a pretty compelling case for packing up and moving north.

Next up was Spain, racking up 9,915 hashtags related to moving. Australia closely followed in third place with 9,377 tags, ranking above big names like Portugal, Thailand, France, Japan and the United States. Whether you’re into the bush or the beach, our Great Southern Land is an ideal place to set up shop. We boast one of the highest numbers of sunny days per year for any country, one of the world’s best work-life balances, have incredible education and job opportunities, and cities that constantly rank among the world's safest.
