Alivio Tourist Park

Alivio Tourist Park lies just four kilometres from Canberra’s centre: a distance that is easily driven or ridden on the electric bikes the park hires out. Both the villas and cabins offer full kitchens, LED TVs, wifi and aircon, while the former also has private balconies and Nespresso machines. There are also 21 standard caravan sites, plus ten with ensuites. Free facilities include a fully equipped camp kitchen, herb garden, barbecues, outdoor cinema and mini water park. For mum and dad looking for a little more R&R, they can lounge by the lit-up pool surrounded by beautiful native Aussie trees. How’s that for balling on a budget?

Crestview Tourist Park

When you stay at Crestview Tourist Park, you can look forward to freshly ground coffee every morning. The secret ingredient that makes it taste so good? It’s free. Other complimentary facilities at the park include wifi, barbecues, a swimming pool with sunbeds and a playground. If time on the road has really drained your batteries, you can preorder a frozen meal cooked by the on-site chef that comes with a drink and dessert. The villas are super spacious, sleeping up to 12 guests, but the cabins and caravan sites are perfect for couples and families passing through Queanbeyan.

Canberra Park

This caravan park may not feature any cabins, but when you see its facilities, you won’t mind one bit. The state-of-the-art camp kitchen, toilet amenities and laundry are all newly renovated and super-mod. The kitchen includes massive fridges, huge oven stations, sinks, electric hotplates, gas stovetops and plenty of bench space. The toilets are tiled a very pretty turquoise colour and there are ping pong tables and nice outdoor seating areas to kick back. There’s plenty of room for everyone with 73 mostly concrete slab caravan sites.

Capital Country Holiday Park

This recreational fun zone sits on the ACT and NSW border, making it about a 20-minute journey from the capital. Putt a few balls on the green, try your luck at the massive blow-up soccer dartboard, and play beach volleyball, futsal and basketball. Relax back in a two-bedroom villa with verandahs and peaceful views of the mini-lake on site. The park is truly a family-friendly option right down to your furriest member: a couple of the caravan sites have fences so your pup can roam free after being cooped up on the road.
