Summer Classic Film Series: In the Heat of the Night

The movie's title doubles as a reason to step inside the Paramount and escape Austin's balmy weather, and if you go on Tuesday, the theater is serving up $2 Lone Stars and soda. In this 1967 film directed by Norman Jewison, Sidney Poitier stars as a detective stranded in a southern town brimming with racial prejudice, but the local sheriff must decide whether to accept his help, or let a murder go unsolved.
