Chef Paul Qui’s touch can be seen all over Austin—his East Side Kings brand has become a mini empire. His eponymous restaurant, Qui, however, is a far throw from the Asian street food that made him a household name. The food here is an eclectic mix of influences: Qui’s Filipino background and Texas upbringing combined with classic French training and the Japanese style he honed during his time at Uchi/Uchiko. You can dine at Qui in a few ways: via prix fixe menu; in the tasting room which requires making reservations a week or two in advance; or on the very casual patio, which has a separate menu. However you enjoy Qui, be sure to check out the cocktail program, which is one of the best in the city.
