This cafe and bakery on the ground floor of the Driskill Hotel serves breakfast, lunch, dinner and brunch in what was originally the hotel's saloon and billiard hall. Home to a cheese soup developed in 1954 by former Neiman Marcus director of cuisine Helen Corbitt, known as the "duchess of Texan cuisine," the cafe specializes in classic Texas comfort food. Save room for dessert: a chocolate cake with a recipe dating from the hotel's opening in—when else?—1886.
