It's National Pet Day (not that we need a day)! Show your pup—or your cat, lizard, bunny, pig, whatever—some love with pet portraits and a happy hour at Space 24 Twenty. From 4pm to 7pm, you'll be able to have your beloved Fido snapped (portraits are free but a $10-$20 donation is suggested; donations benefit the Austin Animal Center), and Lucky Lab Coffee and Frank will be there to supply the caffeine, food and cocktails.

Mohsin Hamid's novel, Exit West, tells a love story set amid a refugee crisis. And, no big deal, it was one of Barack Obama's favorite books of 2017. Listen to the author read from his latest work at this BookPeople event held at a kindred venue—the Austin Central Library—at 7pm.

Are you as obsessed with Humans of New York as we are? Then you'll want to take note of this event: Brandon Stanton, the man behind the popular street portrait project, will be speaking at the Paramount at 8pm tonight. He'll share his experiences with storytelling and perspective, and speak about his project that has opened up a world of diverse faces, cultures and more.
