It's National Pie Day (not to be confused with Pi Day), which is as good of a reason as any to treat yourself to a slice or two. Head to one of Austin's best pie shops, and keep an eye out for specials around town.

Take an extended (and free!) happy hour this afternoon from 4:30 to 6:30pm at Italic's Elio Altare Wine Tasting and Pizza Party. The downtown restaurant will be pouring three wines from Elio Altare—2016 Barbera, 2015 Dolcetto, 2013 Barolo—and offering complimentary pizza. It's all free, which is how we like to roll.

You may consider yourself a live music aficionado, but does that extend to opera? Try something new tonight with a performance from vocalist, songwriter and artist Joseph Keckler. The classical singer will perform a series of wild miniature operas about contemporary life, accompanied by composer Peter Stopschinski. Performances are both tonight and tomorrow night at the Long Center at 7:30pm.
