If you're a gal who's still relatively new to Austin and haven't learned to two-step yet—hell, if you've lived here your whole life and still don't know how to two-step—consider taking all-women's two-stepping lessons at the White Horse tonight. This class is open to self-identifying women (queer, cis, straight and non-confirming) and is taught entirely by women. Grab a beer and let instructors Kirsten and Shelby show you how to move across the floor without stepping on your feet—or someone else's.

Get into the canning game with a demo at Confituras, the biscuit and jam shop where owner Stephanie McClenny has mastered the art of preservation. The demo will use local fruit and you’ll come away with a newfound knowledge of canning—plus a six-ounce jar of Confituras preserves. Tickets can be purchased here, and a portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Austin Food & Wine Alliance.

Suerte officially opens today, a new Mexican restaurant in East Austin where masa is the focus. Chef Fermin Nunez uses local heirloom corn to craft his dishes, which include goat rib barbacoa with handmade tortillas and tetela al carbon. A sizeable mescal and tequila menu are available, and you'll find both spirits in Suerte's specialty cocktails: the Saturday Sun, with mezcal, lemon, curaçao, maraschino liqueur, lavender bitters, and lavender flower and sugar, sounds particularly refreshing.
