Wander around Second Street and explore the restaurants and boutiques opening their doors for 2ND Street Social, a monthly event that features local businesses offering special deals. You'll find Mexican food favorite La Condesa with an extended happy hour (5-8pm); neighborhood sweet shop Yummi Joy giving away mini ice cream cones and fudge samples; and 20% off pillows, bedding and towels at Hacienda.

Catch the opening night of The Way She Spoke: A Docu-mythologia at the Vortex Theatre. Karen Rodriguez is no stranger to demanding roles, both as a student at UT Austin and professionally for companies like Chicago’s Teatro Vista and Austin’s own Vortex Theatre. Now she reprises one of her most challenging performances yet, as she stars in playwright Isaac Gomez’ play about the women of Juarez, Mexico, who have been abducted, raped and murdered over the course of several decades. Tonight's show starts at 8pm; buy tickets here

Ladiiieeees. Chippendale's 2018: About Last Night tour arrives in Austin tonight at 8pm—and sure, while Channing Tatum won't be at the Emo's revue to show off his moves, there will be plenty of other (ripped) men dancing in bow ties. That's one way to kick off the weekend.
