We're ready to stimulate our mind today (if we still have some brain cells left after this weekend), and there are a couple events going on around town that'll help kick things into gear. First, head to Book People for a reading by Charles Frazier. The author of Cold Mountain, which won the National Book Award for Fiction and was adapted for a movie starring Jude Law and Nicole Kidman, is back with another novel set during the Civil War. Frazier's reading of Varina is free and open to the public but you'll need a ticket if you want him to sign a copy.

If you're a bit of a news junkie, you'll want to head to the Ransom Center this evening for a screening of the documentary The Newspaperman: The Life and Times of Ben Bradlee. The doc is followed by a conversation with Leonard Downie Jr. (former managing editor of The Washington Post under Bradlee, and later became the executive editor) and is moderated by R.B. Brenner, director of UT's School of Journalism. The screening starts at 6pm, and you can catch the trailer here.

Flex your trivia skills with a Geeks Who Drink game at Growler USA. Starting at 8pm, the West Campus pub will fill with brainy teams (or beer-guzzling teams who think they're brainy) for this recurring event. Drink beer, eat pizza, win prizes—how's that for a Monday?
