"Universal Studios' Monsters" opens today at the famed Mondo Gallery, a week-long exhibit that showcases screen-printed posters from classic movies like Bride of Frankenstein, The Invisible Man, The Wolf Man and Dracula. Doors open at noon, nightmares practically guaranteed.

Kick off a weekend of reading with a visit from Helen Thorpe at BookPeople at 7pm. This award-winning writer reads from her closely-observed story, The Newcomers, following the lives of 21 refugee teenagers during the 2015-16 school year after they enroll at South High School in Denver.

As they approach their 20-year anniversary, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club can safely lay claim to noir-rock royalty. Head to Stubb's tonight at 7pm to catch the San Francisco group playing songs from their new studio album, Wrong Creatures. Psych-heads diggin’ the heavier stuff will be happy to know that Seattle’s Night Beats—longtime disciples of the Black Angel’s Reverberation Appreciation Society—are opening.
