It's the weekend! You've worked hard to get to this point, so you deserve to play hard, too. We've curated our favorite events happening around Austin for the next few days, from pop-ups to festivals to grand openings—all you have to do is round up your crew. Have a great weekend, y'all!
Fri 9
Birra Happy Hour
Sip birra from two Italy breweries, Baladin and Birrificio del Ducato, during a free tasting at East Austin's new Italian deli, La Matta. Find one you like? Buy it at special happy hour prices until 7pm. Salut! Fri at 5pm
Little Big Town with Kacey Musgraves and Midland
Between alternative country star Kacey Musgrave, who hails from Golden, and Midland, Dripping Springs hometown heroes, this show is not short on Texas flavor. Now we'll just cross our fingers for a Red Headed Stranger cameo—Willie Nelson and Musgrave often collaborate. Fri at 7:30pm
Sat 10
Cupid's Undie Run
Strip down to your skivvies for a good cause at Cupid’s Undie Run, a fund-raiser for neurofibromatosis that includes a brief run (it’s just a mile, cool it), followed by awards and plenty of post jog partying. Sat at noon
Carnaval Brasileiro
Austin’s biggest Brazilian Carnaval celebration comes to town with samba, saucy costumes and plenty of revelry. Wear comfortable shoes—two live bands will have you dancing long into the night. Sat at 8pm
Sun 11
Chip Protest
"Lady Doritos" might not be real, but the Chip Protest is still happening: Austin NOW ("National Organization for Women") is organizing a public demonstration of a "bunch of women eating chips in public." Men—anyone, really—are welcome, too. Just remember to BYOC(hips). Sun at 3pm
Butterfly Bar
This bar adjacent to the Vortex theater keeps shedding its cocoon, celebrating seven trips around the sun with homemade birthday cake, drink specials and live music by artists including Katharine Smith, Andy Bianculli and Mars Wright. Sun at 5pm
