It's the weekend! You've worked hard to get to this point, so you deserve to play hard, too. We've curated our favorite events happening around Austin for the next few days, from pop-ups to festivals to grand openings—all you have to do is round up your crew. Have a great weekend, y'all!
Fri 6
17th Annual Lonestar Roundup
Rev your engines: this Texas-sized car show is back for another weekend celebration of custom cars and hot rods. Enjoy music from the Peterson Brothers, The BlueBonnets, Dale Watson and the Lone Stars, and more, along with a garage crawl and BBQ kickoff party. Fri & Sat at 10am
Austin Dance Festival
Showcases featuring international, national, Texas and Austin companies, master classes, pop-up community dances, artist interviews and more are on the schedule for this comprehensive festival now in its fourth year. Locations vary. Fri-Sun at various times
HONK!TX 2018
Marching bands will descend on three Austin parks to toot, blow, honk and more at this annual festival where you can expect musicians in colorful costumes, impromptu parades and kids getting down to some damn good brass music. The fun starts at Mueller Lake Park on Friday, moves to Adams/Hemphill Park on Saturday and rounds out at Pan-Am Park on Sunday. Fri-Sun at various times
First Friday Art Walk
Good news: You don't have to wait until the WEST Austin Studio Tour to get your art walk fix. The inaugural First Friday Art Walk will feature four downtown art galleries showcasing talented local artists—and, since this is Austin, there will be plenty of free food, music, drinks and giveaways. Fri at 6pm
Honey & Salt release at Sidewinder
Whether your approach to appreciating live music is reveling in artists’ technical capabilities or basking in the glory of every catchy earworm, you’ll find whatever you need among Honey & Salt’s collection of prog- and math-rock jams, which expands with the release of their sophomore self-titled LP at this Friday night fête. Fri at 9pm
Sat 7
Texas Veg Fest
Sweet Ritual, Follow Your Heart and the Wandering Vegan are among the food vendors at this festival that celebrates plant-based diets. Once you've stuffed your face, stick around for the speakers, live music and, if you have kids, activities like face-painting, yoga and cooking demos. Sat at 11am
Chrissy Metz in conversation with Tim Gunn
The star of This is Us is on tour to talk about her memoir, This is Me (a copy is included with each ticket), and she's joined by Project Runway's Tim Gunn. The two will be discussing self-love and acceptance (and probably fashion). Make it work. Sat at 8pm
Sun 8
Cap 10K
Since the first runners left the starting block in 1978, this race has grown to become the largest 10K in Texas—and the sixth largest in the nation. (More than 21,300 runners participated in 2017!) So start working on those running splits and join the pack for the 41st race this year. Sun at 8am
Crawfish boils
It's crawfish season, and there are plenty of crawfish boils happening over the weekend—including ones at Gibson Street Bar, Independence Brewing Co. and Friends and Allies Brewing. Check out our list of where to find them all here. Sat & Sun at various times
