Robotic coffee from the future is opening on the Drag tomorrow

Robots may some day take our jobs, but for now, they're taking over our coffee ordering process. Briggo, a robotic coffee service, is opening a new Coffee Haus inside Moojo on the Drag on Tuesday—and you won't have to talk to a single barista while ordering your extra hot almond milk latte.

Think of Briggo as a super fancy coffee machine that you order from via app or in person. Customers can download the app and fully customize their order, from milk options to temperature to the number of espresso shots. A text will be sent as soon as the order is ready, at which point you can pick it up directly from the Briggo machine. Don't want to deal with downloading an app? You can order directly from the machine as well, where a blend of Latin American beans is used to make 100 drinks per hour.

Briggo, an Austin-based start-up, has popped up before with a pilot launch at UT's Flawn Academic Center in 2012. But a kiosk at Moojo gives it much larger reach—plus, by being situated in an ice cream shop, it means you can always fashion your own affogato.

Starting Tuesday, January 16, the Briggo Coffee Haus will have soft opening hours of 7am to 10pm daily; after February 5, the hours will extend to 1am (midnight on Sundays).
