The cult phenomenon Hamilton isn't coming to Austin's Bass Concert Hall until 2019, but tickets just went on sale—and they won't be around for long.
A quick caveat: In order to score a ticket for the show, presented by Texas Performing Arts, you'll need to buy into Broadway in Austin's entire season package, which includes seven shows and starts at $224. The schedule is as follows:
The Play That Goes Wrong (Oct 23-28, 2018)
Love Never Dies (Nov 27–Dec 2, 2018)
Waitress (Jan 22-27, 2019)
Anastacia (Feb 12-17, 2019)
Fiddler on the Roof (Apr 2-7, 2019)
CATS (May 7-12, 2019)
Hamilton (May 28–Jun 16, 2019)
It's a veritable list of classic Broadway staples (CATS! Fiddler on the Roof!) mixed in with recent runaway hits (Waitress!), with Hamilton capping it off as the proverbial cherry on top. The arrival of the play, written by Lin-Manuel Miranda, has been a long time coming—it first arrived on Broadway in 2015 and has since toured the country, captivating fans with its catchy musical numbers and creative storytelling.
“We’re thrilled it’s finally coming to Austin,” says Kathy Panoff, Texas Performing Arts director and associate dean. “The 2018-19 Broadway in Austin series is an exciting year of live theatre.”
So how do you score tickets? You can call Broadway in Austin at 800-731-7469 from 9am to 5pm, Monday through Friday (though the call volume has been understandably high) or purchase tickets online here. Current season subscribers will need to renew their seats by March 27.
