Austin's craft beer scene continues to expand with the opening of Oddwood Ales today, a brand new brewery started by brothers Taylor and Brett Ziebarth. The brewery specializes in American-style wild ales—think funky, sour and fermented in oak barrels.
The Ziebarths know their stuff. Taylor worked as the head brewer at Adelbert’s Brewery until 2014, when he left to work on Oddwood full-time, while Brett was brought on in 2015, leaving Brooklyn to help design the Oddwood space (his artwork will be hanging on the walls). The 2,500-square-foot taproom is designed to be a comfortable hangout spot, with an outdoor patio, a cozy lounge, and a bar featuring the brewery's signatures brews plus guest taps. An in-house kitchen is also on deck to start serving food.
“We aim to brew the beers that linger in our dreams," say the brothers. "The entire brewery is built around the idea of experimentation and versatility in pursuit of our perfect beer." Those beers, at least to start, include First Day of School (a pale ale), Earth Tones (a blended saison), Exact Science (an American lager) and Outworld (an IPA).
Oddwood Ales, which is located at 3108 Manor Road, will be operating on limited hours for now: Thu, Fri, Sat 4-11pm, Sun 2-8pm. Stop by today when they'll be serving thin crust pizzas, bruschetta and salads to help soak up their beer. Welcome to the neighborhood, Oddwood!
