This past weekend, the Red River Cultural District overflowed with psych rock seekers as Levitation Fest made its triumphant return to Austin, this time forgoing one festival location for a multi-day event spread across a handful of live music venues. From Stubb's to Mohawk, Beerland to Barracuda, dozens of artists performed raucous sets throughout the weekend: Parquet Courts played an ear-splitting show to a rowdy Stubb's crowd ("Crowd surf AWAY from the stage, folks," admonished frontman Andrew Savage, before telling another audience member to "cool it with the yelling, man, just levitate"), headliner Ty Segall shredded like his life depended on it at his two sold-out shows, Dallas Acid brought mesmerizing synth sounds to the Mohawk on Saturday night (we couldn't take our eyes off Linda Beecroft working the gong) and the Black Angels—local psych heroes who launched the fest in 2008—closed out Stubb's on Sunday with a mind-bending set that ended in a psychedelic jam session, one that embodied Levitation to its fullest.

Check out our photos from the festival below, and stay tuned for information on Levitation 2019.
