In what has become an Austin summer tradition, Jaws on the Water returns for another terrifying series of floating on Lake Travis while watching a shark rip apart humans on screen. Because what's more summer-y than that?
Alamo Drafthouse's Rolling Roadshow presents the annual event, which brings the 1975 thriller to life at Volente Beach Resort. Screenings start on June 15 and continue every Friday and Saturday until August 4, but it'll cost a bit more than your average movie ticket. At $55, each ticket includes a "shark-approved" inner tube (featuring, for the first time, both a headrest and a cup holder), admission to Volente Beach Resort from 6 to 8:30pm (you'll be able to use the rides, beachside bar, grill and more before the movie starts around 8:45pm) and an explosive finale (read: fireworks).
For those who are looking to dine there as well, you can purchase an optional $12 meal ticket during checkout. Maybe that's to keep you distracted from being the real meal ticket for whatever lurks beneath the lake (Kidding! But not kidding? Seriously, what lurks beneath the lake?).
Rolling Roadshow has brought a number of films to life this year, including a screening of The Sandlot at an actual sandlot and a summer camp in Marble Falls. They've also introduced a new movie series, called Stunt Ranch Cinema, that features action movies screened outdoors—complete with real explosions and activities like ziplines, throwing hatchets and obstacle courses. The next one takes place on May 26th, and celebrates the 10th anniversary of The Dark Knight.
Think you can handle a night spent floating in the water while the scariest shark in history stalks its prey on the screen in front of you? Get your tickets to Jaws on the Water here, and don't say we didn't warn you.
