Bless the pizza gods: a pie master is coming to Austin this week, and he's planning on putting all other pizzas in the city to shame.
You may know Anthony Falco's name if you're a fan of Roberta's Pizza, the famed Brooklyn joint where dough lovers willingly wait in lengthy lines for a casual dinner. Falco served as Roberta's head Pizza Czar, and is now an international pizza consultant (best gig ever), working in pizzerias across the globe. This Friday, he's making his mark in Austin with a pop-up at Cane Rosso.
Falco will be taking over Cane Rosso's second pizza oven to craft all-American pies, using (for the most part) Texas ingredients. Pizza varieties will include a Classic Plain Pie (fresh mozzarella, aged mozzarella, tomato, Texas cheddar, oregano), Pepperoni & Jalapeno (aged mozzarella, tomato, oregano, pickled jalapeno, biellese pepperoni, served with a side of Ranch), Veggie Delight (fresh mozzarella, aged mozzarella, tomato, bell pepper, roasted mushroom, red onion, olive) and a Palace Special (aged mozzarella, tomato, Texas cheddar, pepperoni, Texas pork sausage, onion, jalapeños). There will also be a secret special.
The pizzaiolo is developing his own ranch made specifically for pizza dipping, and will be offering his dressing at the pop-up. Pizzas are available at 6pm until sold out.
