Former Vice President and ice cream connoisseur Joe Biden will be coming to the Paramount Theatre in December on his "American Promise Tour," a statewide sojourn that will touch on his most important political moments, difficult decisions and strategies for making it through life's biggest challenges. Tickets will go on sale on Friday, July 28 at 10am, though you can already score a ticket if you're a donor.
Included in each ticket is a copy of Biden's forthcoming memoir, Promise Me, Dad: A Year of Hope, Hardish, and Purpose. The book details one extraordinary difficult year when his son, Beau, was battling brain cancer, and the hurdles Biden faced in dealing with this loss while simultaneously serving as Vice President. If you happened to catch Biden when he spoke during SXSW, you'll know that he has spent his time since leaving The White House to promote The Biden Foundation, a nonprofit formed with his wife, Dr. Jill Biden, to focus on areas of advancing community colleges, ending violence against women and ensuring LGBTQ equality, among other objectives. He also spoke at length about finding a cure for cancer, and implored the bright minds at SXSW to elevate this search.
“I have always been fortunate to have an incredible support system around me, and I understand how many people in this country go through far worse than I have, with far less support," says Biden. "I hope my own story will strike a chord with other Americans who have walked the same path I have. I'm looking forward to talking with people all over the country on this book tour, not only about my experiences, but about how much we have in common, and what we can do together to continue to build on the great promise of America.”
General admission tickets for the December 8 event will be on sale for $50, $70 and $90; VIP tickets are available for a cool $325 and include a meet and greet with Biden, a signed copy of his book and a reserved seat within the first 11 rows. Biden will also be touring in Houston on December 7 at the Smart Financial Centre at Sugar Land.
