Think of two insanely talented chefs in Austin. Then think of them opening a restaurant together. Then pick your jaw up off the floor and read this: Aaron Franklin has joined Tyson Cole's Loro, a forthcoming Asian Smokehouse and Bar from the Uchi/Uchiko chef. We're dead.

"I've known Aaron Franklin for a long time and always admired his dedication to his craft," says chef Cole. "I respect his talent, his passion, and the way he conducts his business, I couldn't be more thrilled to be partnering on Loro with him. I believe we have built a solid concept and I cannot wait to see to what heights this project will rise with his involvement."

The restaurant, which comes from Hai Hospitality, is scheduled to open in early 2018 on South Lamar (2115 South Austin Blvd). On the menu, you'll find grilled and smoked meats (which is where Franklin comes in), sides, craft beer and batch cocktails, and you'll be able to order food at the bar or enjoy your meal outside on a porch shaded by hundred-year-old oak trees.

"I've been inspired by Hai's dedication to detail and their quest for perfection for years," says Franklin. "It seems natural to combine forces with our shared passions…I can't wait for Loro!"

Neither can we, Franklin. Neither can we.
