It's the weekend! You've worked hard to get to this point, so you deserve to play hard, too. We've curated our favorite events happening around Austin for the next few days, from pop-ups to festivals to grand openings—all you have to do is round up your crew. Have a great weekend, y'all!
Fri 15
Sonic Transmissions Festival
Now in its third year, the eclectic, three-day showcase features artists from multiple genres, including world music, postpunk, free jazz and experimental hip-hop—a perfect mix for fans bored of same-same festival lineups. Shows take place across four venues: Barracuda, Kick Butt Coffee, Kenny Dorham’s Backyard and Victory Grill. Through Saturday, times vary
Austin Music Video Festival
Total Request Live is making a comeback, so why shouldn’t there be an Austin Music Video Festival? Panels, performances, screenings and more fill the weekend; last year’s fest saw the U.S. theatrical debut of Beyoncé’s Lemonade, an Arcade Fire retrospective and an epic video-skate night. Through Saturday, times vary
Sat 16
Oktoberfest Party at Black Sheep Lodge
Kick off Oktoberfest season at Black Sheep Lodge this weekend, where you can enjoy a Hammerschloogen contest, women's and men's stein holding contests (winners score Black Sheep Lodge gift cards and other prizes), plus specials on brats, pretzels and beer. Saturday at 2pm

Franklin Barbecue Hurricane Harvey relief benefit
Franklin Barbecue may be temporarily closed due to a fire that struck the famed BBQ spot a couple weeks ago, but they're still finding a way to give back to Texas. This Sunday (and September 24), the restaurant will be serving BBQ at the Mohawk, with proceeds going towards Hurricane Harvey relief. Tickets are $30; expect long lines. Sunday at 11am
Ben Folds
Ben Folds is in the midst of his fan-friendly Paper Airplane Request Tour, where audience members can launch song requests towards Folds using paper airplanes (when prompted, of course). Bring your own planes! Sunday at 7pm
