Real New York-style bagels are hard to come by in Austin, but the east side is getting a taste of the Big Apple this Wednesday when Rosen's Bagel Co. permanently opens at Wright Bros. Brew & Brew.
The bagel company, founded by Tom Rosen, has been operating pop-ups since March, selling their coveted bagels at spots like Hops & Grain, Thunderbird Coffee and Peached Social House. They've also hosted weekly Saturday pop-ups at Brew & Brew since July, as they prepared to make the popular coffee and beer stop their permanent home.
Rosen's, which opens from 8am to 2pm every day except for Tuesday (and offers a limited menu 2pm-close), will serve a variety of bagels including onion, plain, rosemary sea salt, poppy seed and everything ($2-$2.25). Schmears range from plain to scallion to basil and lemon, as well as blueberry and caramelized shallot and bacon ($1.50-$2.25). They'll be offering sandwiches, too, like the Whole Loxa Love with house lox, lemon-basil schmear, pickled onion, caper-dill chimmi and tomato.
Rosen's Bagel Co. will open on Wednesday at 500 San Marcos St, suite 105.
