Jaws on the Water returns as the scariest Austin film event this summer

Picture this, for a moment: As your feet dangle, care-free, in the waters of Lake Travis under a dimming summer sky, the Steven Spielberg horror flick Jaws flickers across a screen in front of you, sharp teeth emerging from ocean water that looks eerily similar to your surrounds. For some, that might prompt an "Are you fucking crazy, get the hell out of the water" reaction, but for others, it's the perfect realization of art coming to life. And you can do it starting on June 30, as Alamo Drafthouse's Birth.Movies.Death.Events presents Jaws on the Water at Volente Beach Water Park

Back for another season, Jaws on the Water invites adventurous (sadistic?) movie goers to five weekends of immersive screenings, complete with shark-themed tubes that you'll float on throughout the two hour and ten minute movie (you'll get to keep those tubes, too). Tickets, which run for $55, also include access to the water park, which features water slides, the Lazy Lagoon, a beachside bar and other attractions.

Jaws will be shown every Friday, Saturday and Sunday from June 30 until July 23, starting at 6pm each evening. You can buy tickets here, or can chance it and buy tickets at the door if they haven't sold out already. If you're a bigger fan of Jaws 2 or Jaws 3 (uh, who are you?), you'll have one night to catch each sequel: Jaws 2 on July 14 and Jaws 3 in 3D on July 15 (both in the water).

You'll be able to purchase food and drink on site, though you can't bring your own in from outside. Besides, do you really want to be offering more bait to whatever lurks beneath those waters?
