If you've walked past 800 Congress Ave the past few days, you may have noticed a new visitor from Tennessee hanging around these parts. That would be the Jack Daniel's General Store, a pop-up that opened last Sunday and will be operating until Saturday, October 14, from 11am to 5pm—and they want you to come in and make yourself at home.
Inside the space is a tribute to Lynchburg, Tennessee, where the Jack Daniel's Distillery resides. You'll find a whiskey sensory bar, Southern eats from Miss Mary Bobo's Boarding House, demos on charcoal mellowing, a workshop on the barrel raising process (as well as other Austin maker workshops) and seven-cent candy. Oh, and fellas—you'll be able to score a $5 haircut at the on-site barbershop. So fresh, so clean.
You'll also be able to sign up in the store for private tastings held on certain evenings from 6 to 7pm. And, of course, there will be live music, because what is an event in Austin without live music? Nothing, it's nothing.
Haircuts, treats, whiskey, candy—the rest of this week is looking pretty solid. See you there?
