Austin has no shortage of live music venues or shows, but tomorrow is an especially important day for the ATX music community. HAAM (Health Alliance for Austin Musicians) Benefit Day celebrates and supports Austin's musicians with over 200 shows held at various venues across town—and some of the performances aren't in places you might expect.

You'll find the Peterson Brothers performing at Whole Foods Downtown, Drew Womack at the soon-to-be-opened Still Austin Whiskey Co. and Jason Robert Blum at the Seton Administrative Offices. But you'll also find shows at more traditional venues, like Robynn Shayne at the Saxon Pub, the Jon Blondell Quintet at the Elephant Room and the Octopus Project at Waterloo Records. Hotel Hot Burrito is also presenting showcases later in the evening at Barracuda and Hotel Vegas; for a complete list of shows, check out the full schedule here

While the shows are free, the point of HAAM Benefit Day is to raise awareness and funds for the non-profit, which has helped musicians gain access to affordable healthcare since 2005. A number of restaurants, bars and retail shops will be donating a portion of their proceeds from the day to HAAM, and there will be black donation boxes at the shows so that you can contribute (you can also make a donation here).

“HAAM Benefit Day is our biggest event of the year and is a great representation of why Austin is such a unique Texas city,” says Matthew Long, event chair and HAAM Board member. “Showcasing all of this immense talent on one day is a terrifically exciting way to celebrate Austin culture, and HAAM is devoted to making sure this culture is here to stay.”

HAAM Benefit Day will take place on Tuesday, September 12, from 6am to 2am the following day. Who are you planning to see?
