Time Out says

91 Athens Riviera is the latest addition of the Domes Resorts, at the popular Athenian Riviera area in the southern suburbs of Athens. Here, Domes collaborates with Grivalia Hospitality, introducing the first hybrid Private Members Club & Glamping in Greece, that offers to members and visitors a variety of amenities for everyone who enjoys a glamorous lifestyle.

28 cabanas, divided into three categories, in unique dome-shaped rooms which can only be described as a luxury “tent camp”. Each cabana is spacious, modern decorated in the tones of white and beige, with a super-king bed situated right in the centre of the room, a desk, large TV, mini bar and coffee machine, and two balconies, one in the front with a pool view and a small one in the back, will make your stay more than memorable.

The whole area is full of green spaces blending in with the tents, with olive trees and other local Greek varieties complementing the resort. A fully equipped gym, pilates and sunset yoga sessions as well as 8 tennis courts (and two mini ones) can keep you in shape during your stay, and when you need to relax, just treat yourself with a specialized treatment at the SOMA SPA, with four private treatment rooms, a hydro pool, sauna, hammam, and a relaxation area. Not enough? The beach is only a few steps away, where you can sunbathe under the gorgeous Athenian sun and have a swim at the deep blue waters of the Saronic Gulf, or choose one of the two large swimming pools –or your own plunge one, which during winter you can ask them to be heated, for an extra cost of course.

And when the night comes, head over to the Society 91 restaurant, which is open only for members and visitors offering an all day a la carte menu, or enjoy a unique dining experience at the Barbarossa restaurant, where chef Dimitris Nikolis explores the traditional Aegean cuisine, paying an homage to the island of Paros, where the journey of Barbarossa begun almost 40 years ago. Dishes are inspired by Greek gastronomy, with an Asian flair, and local ingredients with an emphasis on the seafood, from seafood pasta, to lobster and fresh oysters. After your dinner, do stay for a cocktail, you will not regret it. Here is also where breakfast is served in the morning.

The area is very large, spanning from the main coastal road to the sea, but fear not, as white golf carts will take you everywhere you need to go.

Neighbourhood

About half an hour from the city centre and some 15’ from the nearest metro station, Elliniko, the resort is basically between Glyfada and Voula neighbourhoods. Both areas, are full with cafes and bars by the sea, or you can take the tram for a chill ride along the seaside area of Athens.

Nearby

  1. Bungalow 7: A beautiful restaurant by the sea where chef Ntinos Foteinakis combines Greek ingredients with Asian techniques.
  2. Ark: Curated by one of Greece’s most respected chefs, Yiannis Baxevanis, Ark is a celebration of Greek cuisine.
  3. Mosaiko: Vintage decoration, with indie pop rock music and extraordinary cocktails for a chill night.

Time Out Tip

Grab a glass of wine, walk down to the beach, leave your shoes on the side and enjoy the sunset setting on the Saronic Gulf.
