Let’s be real – in a post-pandemic world, cleanliness is one of the most important factors visitors take into consideration when we travel. And let’s just say Asian airports get it because SkyTrax's World Airport Awards’ rankings are in, and nine out of the top ten cleanest airports in the world are right here in Asia.
The awards are widely regarded as the top source for airport rankings, judging over 500 airports based on passenger satisfaction. The World’s Cleanest Airports 2025 list is divided into two categories: one for all airports and another for those with fewer than 25 million passengers annually.
The airports that make the grade are celebrated for their outstanding cleanliness and efficient facilities, ensuring passengers experience less stress and more comfort. Key factors include spotless floors, tidy washrooms, clean seating areas and security zones, and even sanitised fingerprint and access points. It also considers the cleanliness of food outlets and the management of waste and recycling.
Topping the list for the cleanest airport? Tokyo Haneda Airport. But Japan doesn’t stop there – Tokyo Narita Airport and Kansai Airport also claimed spots in the top 10, proving that when it comes to cleanliness, Japan’s airports have it down to a science.
Next up, the title of 2025’s World’s Best Airport goes to Singapore Changi Airport, so it’s no shock they’re also high on this list, coming in at second place. Right behind is Doha Hamad Airport in third – not far off, considering it was ranked the second best overall.
