The first-ever Time Out Market in Asia has finally arrived in Osaka. Located in the new Grand Green Osaka compound next to Umekita Park, this massive 3,000 sqm space is home to 17 kitchens, two bars and a stage with a dedicated DJ booth. Designed to showcase the best of Osaka’s food, drink and entertainment scene, the market brings together a carefully curated lineup of award-winning chefs, beloved local gems and rising culinary talents from across the Kansai region.

The best of Osaka and beyond

Just like other Time Out Markets around the world in Lisbon, New York, and Dubai, Time Out Market Osaka follows the same mission: to editorially curate the very best of the city in one vibrant, fun and accessible space. Local experts have selected every vendor to reflect what makes dining in Osaka great – the city is, after all, known as "Japan's Kitchen" and boasts an unbeatable culinary scene. The market's design blends Japanese aesthetics like Muji-inspired wooden panels and communal seating inspired by Japanese Zen rock gardens contrasted against bold touches like the striking 80s-inspired mural by Osaka artist Shun Nakao.

What’s cooking?

Time Out Market Osaka is divided into three main zones, each offering a different taste of the Kansai region. The smell of coffee from Mel Coffee Roasters beckons at the front of the market. Pop by Julian♡Sucré♡Acid for innovative gelato creations conceptualised by three of Osaka's top dessert specialists. Try traditional Kyoto-style kakigori and warabi mochi from Gion Tokuya, while patissier Seiichiro, Nishizono serves up indulgent parfaits and pastries that are also too beautiful to eat.

For classic Osaka street food, visitors can find all their favourites lined up in one convenient row. Koala Shokudo serves up expertly made okonomiyaki and takoyaki, two of the city’s most iconic dishes. Michelin-starred yakitori from Ayamuya elevates the humble grilled chicken to a whole new level, while Kushiage001 offers Osaka’s signature deep-fried kushiage skewers. For those craving bold, aromatic flavours, Watanabe Curry delivers curry rice infused with the deep, punchy spices of Sri Lanka alongside perfectly fried cutlets.

Beyond street food, the market boasts an impressive selection of mains from some of the region’s most beloved restaurants. Nikutoieba Matsuda, a cult-favourite wagyu specialist from Nara, makes its Osaka debut here, serving premium cuts of Japanese beef. Kitaro Sushi offers an accessible take on high-quality sushi, with seasonal bites prepared fresh. Kankokushokudo Iru, helmed by legendary chef Park Sam-sun, brings comforting Korean flavours to the table, while Gihan Siumei presents expertly roasted Hong Kong-style meats and dim sum. Those craving noodles can enjoy a modern take on Sanuki udon at Passion Udon Sanshu or experience the bold, next-generation ramen flavours of Zagin Diversity. Meanwhile, Critters Burger, one of Osaka’s most loved burger joints, serves up hearty, juicy burgers made with top-quality ingredients, while Pizza Timewarp ∈Lacerba delivers an unconventional "No Border" approach to Italian pizza. And for something you can only find at Time Out Market Osaka, head to Saboten Taqueria. Helmed by chef Willie Monroy, who also runs Milpa, it brings Mexican flavours crafted with Japanese ingredients to the table.

Culture on tap

No visit to Time Out Market is complete without a stop at the Time Out Bar, and in Osaka, visitors will find two bars serving an impressive selection of drinks. A well-curated lineup of draft beers and wines by the glass is available alongside regional sakes from Osaka, Hyogo, and Kyoto, offering a taste of Japan’s celebrated brewing traditions. Choose from a vast selection of Japanese whiskies or try an Osaka-themed signature drink like the Sakura Salty Dog or the Grand Green Mojito. A variety of non-alcoholic options also ensures there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

Beyond the food and drinks, Time Out Market Osaka also hosts a year-round programme of live music, DJ sets, art exhibitions, workshops, and family-friendly activities. The market’s stage will feature an exciting lineup of local musicians, performances, and creative collaborations that showcase the energy and talent of Osaka’s thriving cultural scene. Keep your eyes peeled on the official site for the full details.

Time Out Market Osaka opens daily from 11am to 11pm, starting March 21. Whether you’re stopping by for lunch, dinner, a quick snack, or a late-night drink, this truly is the ultimate destination to experience the very best of the city – all under one roof.
