Feeling gloriously isolated on the eastern banks of the Amstel, this private hotel in a former stone-mason's workshop is actually just a few minutes' stroll from the bright lights of Rembrandtplein and the rest of the city centre, and it's also well situated for exploring the Plantage and Jodenbuurt. Rooms are simple and bright; ones that command a river view cost more. For stays of three days or more there are two self-catering apartments and a studio sleeping four, which work out at a pretty good price. Both Amstel Gold and Amstel Light apartments have river views; the former has two bathrooms.
