The best Airbnbs in Adelaide

The unreal Aussie beach shack with not a neighbour in sight

When the hustle and bustle of city slicking gets a little too much, we could think of far worse places for a digital detox. This conservation property is located all on its lonesome on Venus Bay, so we guess you could say that swimmers are optional. The beautiful wooden shack has been sustainably designed for off-grid living, with solar panels and rain tanks.

Beds? Two queen beds. Accommodates four guests.

Location Perks? If you got any closer to the beach, you’d be sleeping on the water. Look forward to direct beachfront access from the property.

Budget range? Pretty expensive, but given you can bring three other people along, it works out to be quite decent.

The elegant 1800s church refurb

The pitched roof and arched windows are a dead giveaway of this property’s past life as an 1858 church, but you’ll forget the moment you walk in the door. A chic industrial fireplace, gorgeous timber floors and a marble countertop set the scene for your romantic stay in historic town of Hahndorf. The village is home to wineries, little shops, superb eateries and galleries.

Beds? One king bed. Accommodates two guests.

Location Perks? Amongst quaint little Hahndorf’s historic sights, but also right by the freeway for a 30-minute drive to Adelaide’s CBD.

Budget range? You’ll be spending more and it will be worth every penny.

The romantic barefoot luxury cabin amongst nature

It doesn’t take the sharpest tool in the shed to figure out why this property was a finalist in 2023 for Airbnb’s best nature stay. Imagine kicking back on the deck (or soaking in the outdoor bath) with a fruit and cheese platter, sipping wine while you take in the greenery, firepit and… little baby lambs. It doesn’t get much cuter. There's a little kitchen inside to whip up a hearty meal and continental breakfast is included in your stay.

Beds? One queen bed. Accommodates two guests.

Location Perks? So secluded and peaceful that almost every single guest has given this Airbnb a five-star rating for location.

Budget range? The home is tiny so you’re getting fancy for less dosh.

The red brick home straight out of an English period drama

Pack a book or two because when you arrive at this Chesterdale property, you'll want to wander the property, pages in hand, wistfully staring out at the yellow irises that line the riverbed. A bit dramatic? Maybe. But so is the guest suite of this house set on 32 acres of land. It’s been newly renovated so enjoy all the modern comforts of the kitchen and home after a long day of exploring the forest.

Beds? One king bed. Accommodates two guests.

Location Perks? Settle in amongst the serenity of the Kuitpo Forest with popular riding and walking tracks accessible right from the backdoor of the property.

The colour palette of this little cottage-esque townhouse is white, black and mint, making the space feel quaint and inviting while still being decked out and modern. Location Perks? It’s close to just about everything you could think of: the CBD, airport, beach, public transport stops and the Adelaide Hills.

A peaceful suburban beach shack

If you’ve been there and done that with Adelaide city, this is probably the next most South Australian place you could stay. It’s just 45 minutes away from the capital’s CBD but the treasure lies in its surroundings. It’s in the small beachside town of Port Willunga, which encapsulates gorgeous white sand beaches and the offerings of the world-renowned McLaren Vale wine region.

Beds? One queen bed, one double bed. Accommodates four guests.

Location Perks? A couple of metres away from Port Willunga Beach’s white sands and the Esplanade.

Budget range? This wonderfully styled beach shack by the water is very affordable.
