Part of the Matthews hospitality cohort, who made their name with snazzy renovations of several old pubs around Adelaide and regional SA (as far afield as Whyalla and Mount Gambier), the Feathers remains a steady local boozer, despite the $4 million facelift. It’s out with all that ’90s suburbia, in with new-century bars and dining areas (Feathers Pavilion replaces the Place Next Door). There’s good-value accommodation here too – much classier than a motel.
