Time Out Market Osaka unveils further additions to its stellar culinary line-up: Osaka’s and Kansai’s best chefs and restaurateurs brought together under one roof to create a vibrant space

Time Out Market Osaka will be home to 17 restaurants and 2 bars when it opens at Grand Green Osaka – today, the next six top chefs and restaurateurs are announced to join Time Out Market Osaka.

Time Out Market Osaka has announced further additions to its spectacular line-up of some of the city’s and Kansai region’s leading chefs and restaurateurs. Time Out Market Osaka – the first of its kind in Asia – will open in the south wing of Grand Green Osaka on 21 March 2025.

Time Out Market is a food and cultural market bringing the best of the city together under one roof: a curated mix of its best chefs, restaurateurs and cultural experiences – it will deliver a new experience where visitors can enjoy the best local food and culture.

Spread across over 3,000 sqm, the uniquely designed site will feature seventeen kitchens and two bars – making Time Out Market Osaka a place which will offer an incredible variety of cuisines from authentic Japanese, modern Mexican and Korean-inspired menus to hamburgers. It will be a place where friends and family can get together over outstanding food while immersing themselves in local culture.

Time Out Market Osaka will give guests a true taste of Osaka by showcasing the best local chefs and restaurateurs of the city and the Kansai region while also serving as a platform to promote their talent both nationally as well as internationally. 

With seven vendors already announced*, another six culinary top talents have been revealed today to join Time Out Market Osaka:

 

Ayamuya: a new concept by the famous yakitori restaurant that was awarded a Michelin star

Ayamuya, one of Osaka’s leading yakitori restaurants and the first yakitori restaurant in Osaka to receive a Michelin star, will open a chicken concept at Time Out Market Osaka. “Simple, with flavours that you won’t find anywhere else,” is how owner Takumi Naganuma explains his new concept. The menu at Time Out Market will include well-known favourites such as fried chicken and chicken cutlet sandwiches – meticulously crafted with a focus on well-balanced flavours.

PIZZA TIMEWARP ∈ LACERBA: ‘NO BORDER’ pizza by a renowned Chef of Italian cuisine

Chef Masaaki Fujita, owner of LACERBA, is renowned for his mastery of Italian cuisine ranging from local dishes to Neapolitan pizza and innovative creations. At Time Out Market Osaka, he will introduce a “neo-pop pizza that suits the new age of the city”. As well as the ever-popular Neapolitan pizza, the menu will also feature creative options and one-of-a-kind flavours only to be found in Japan such as Shirasu Pizza with Bottarga; Pizza with Kurobuta Pork, Okinawa Brown Sugar and Cacao; as well as seasonal menu items featuring local ingredients from all over Japan.

Passion UDON SANSHU: an evolved version of Sanuki udon will be offered at the Market

Passion UDON SANSHU, a restaurant popular with Osaka’s udon lovers, is making a comeback at Time Out Market Osaka. After a four-year hiatus, Owner Tatsuya Kubo said, "We make our own noodles based on the traditional methods of Sanuki udon which is characterised by its beautifully chewy texture. We are committed to continually evolving Sanuki udon." At Time Out Market Osaka, he will focus on hearty meat udon made with local beef, alongside a variety of seasonal tempura.

 

GIHAN SIUMEI: authentic Cantonese and Hong Kong-style kettle-roasted meat is coming to Time Out Market Osaka

Renowned for his acclaimed Chinese restaurant Ichino Funairi in Kyoto, owner-chef Yoshiyuki Wei will bring his creativity to Time Out Market Osaka with the debut of a brand-new concept, GIHAN SIUMEI. He says: “I want to bring the nostalgic flavours of Yokohama Chinatown, where I was born, to life right here in Osaka.” The menu at Time Out Market will include a variety of meat dishes such as siu mei, a local Cantonese and Hong Kong dish made with seared seasoned pork and duck, grilled in a special oven, and crispy pork, which has an irresistible balance of savoury skin and juicy meat. Other exciting dishes include whole roasted duck and oven-roasted char siu. A selection of dim sum will also be available, featuring specialties from Ichino Funairi such as yaki-sai and steamed dumplings.


Kitaro Sushi: High-quality seasonal fish served as bite-sized “Sharikoma” sushi

Kitaro Sushi is known for its sushi consisting of small pieces of vinegared rice that’s easy to eat. Using fresh fish from markets all over Japan, lively sushi chefs make the sushi right in front of the guests. In addition to sushi, the menu will also offer dishes based on seasonal ingredients that pair perfectly with sake for example. “We are committed to sourcing the finest ingredients and using our years of experience to do our best to make sure our customers say ‘that was delicious’,” says Hideaki Iwamoto, a sushi chef with 30 years’ experience.

 

WATANABE CURRY: A fusion of Japanese dashi culture and Sri Lankan spices

WATANABE CURRY was founded in 2016 in Dojima, Osaka – it’s where Chef Osamu Watanabe serves original curry made with Japanese dashi soup stock made from sea bream and chicken with a homemade blend of Sri Lankan spices dedicated to the theme “a curry you'll want to eat every day”. In addition to the classic chicken curry, the menu at the Market will also feature original watanabe curry which combines chicken curry and lamb keema curry. There will also be menu items such as the spiced tonkatsu curry topped with a thick, satisfying pork cutlet.
