Union Square in Manhattan will soon be home to a new Time Out Market – the food and cultural market that brings the best of the city together under one roof: a curated mix of the city’s best culinary and cultural experiences.

Across around 10,000 sq ft, Time Out Market New York, Union Square will feature seven kitchens, a bar and a stage – there will be communal tables and approximately 300 seats, with around 70 of them on the terrace for outdoor dining.

Time Out Market New York, Union Square will feature some of the city’s best chefs and restaurateurs with a focus on up-and-coming culinary talents. Culture will also play a role as the Market will give emerging local artists and performers a platform – all within a space that brings people together, so they can connect with each other.

Time Out first launched in London in 1968 to inspire and enable people to experience the best of the city. In 1995 it came to New York and today, local experts curate and create content about the best things to do, see and eat across 333 cities in 59 countries across websites, social media, newsletters, video and more. It is this expertise for everything that’s exciting, cool and not to be missed in a city that is also at the heart of Time Out Market, as everything is curated by Time Out’s local experts. Furthermore, Time Out’s digital expertise will also be part of the experience via content featured on screens positioned throughout the Market – for example, highlighting things to do nearby.

Time Out Market New York, Union Square is set to open in Fall 2025 on the ground floor of Zero Irving, an innovation and technology hub designed and built from the ground up by RAL Companies and JRE Partners.

This will be Time Out Market’s second food and cultural market in New York, following on from the successful flagship which opened in 2019 in Brooklyn’s Dumbo neighborhood and continues to offer, across its 24,000 sq ft, outstanding culinary and cultural experiences alongside incredible views of the Manhattan skyline from its rooftop.

Virginia Rector-Birbal, VP US Time Out Market, says: “Time Out Market New York, Union Square will not just be a place to eat: it will be a platform for culinary and cultural talents – where you can discover the city’s flavors and fresh ideas, and experience New York’s creativity all at once; a place for people and the local community to come together. It will be for everyone, every day – for all ages, budgets, tastes – under one roof.

“We are particularly excited that in this new Market, digital elements will be integrated to create a compelling visual experience, and to inspire and entertain our guests with Time Out content; this will also offer our Media partners new ‘out of home’ opportunities which is an innovation in the industry, as it will allow them to connect with our audience in real life.”

Spencer Levine, President at RAL Companies & Affiliates LLC, added: “Zero Irving is an award-winning trophy asset with museum-quality office space that is 100% leased by industry-leading companies. The project is a case study in effective public/private collaboration as we worked hand-in-hand with the Economic Development Corporation (EDC) to create an ecosystem for job growth, tech innovation and a food hall. Time Out Market is a high-quality tenant perfectly positioned to run a successful operation that benefits the building’s office tenants, the surrounding community, and New York City as a whole.”

The first Time Out Market opened in Lisbon in 2014, bringing the best of the city together under one roof – curated by Time Out’s expert editors. In addition to the ten Markets already open around the world, this new Market increases the pipeline of sites under development to seven Markets set to open between 2025 and 2027, with more in negotiations.

Zero Irving was the winning response to a NYC Economic Development Corporation request for proposal and was completed in 2022; it won the Urban Land Institute's Award for Excellence in Office Development in 2023.
