Time Out Market Barcelona has announced that it will officially open its doors to the public on Friday, 5 July 2024 at 12pm and following this first day it will be open daily from 10am to midnight. It has also revealed further additions to its culinary offering, as well as an exciting bar takeover.
Time Out Market is a food and cultural market based on Time Out’s editorial curation – it brings the best of the city together under one roof: its best chefs and restaurateurs, drinks and cultural experiences. At the heart of Time Out Market is to showcase the city’s top talents and to make their high-quality food affordable and accessible.
Time Out Market Barcelona – the first to open in Spain – will feature 14 award-winning chefs, up-and-coming restaurateurs and much-loved local gems, a full-service restaurant, four bars (two indoor and two outdoor), an event space and a podcast station across 5,250 sqm.
Located in the Port Vell area on the top floor of the Maremagnum, Time Out Market Barcelona will have direct access from the street via an escalator and an elevator. The Market space has undergone a unique design transformation with a goal to become a place for people where they can get together in a communal atmosphere. Alongside some of the city’s best food and drinks, people will also be able to take in stunning views – which they haven’t been able to enjoy for many years – of the city, the sea, the Torre del Rellotge and the new Llotja de Pescadors.
Time Out Market Barcelona also reveals further additions to its all-star culinary lineup, complementing the vendors previously announced (full list below):
Two Michelin Star Chef Jordi Artal will offer his creative interpretation of Catalan cuisine
Artal serves dishes with local and seasonal products – the evocative power of his cooking style is such that one bite can transport you to the sea or the mountains. He focuses on all the senses of the culinary experience, hence the name of his restaurant, Cinc Sentits. Artal’s professional journey is as unique as his cooking: he went from being a director at a high-tech company in Silicon Valley – where he invited his friends to gastronomic dinners in his own home – to being a self-taught chef and entrepreneur. In 2002, he returned to Catalonia and his family's culinary tradition made him take a 180-degree turn in his life and open a restaurant in Barcelona with his mother, Roser and his sister, Amèlia. Cinc Sentits opened in 2004, won its first Michelin star just four years later, and the second in 2020. Now a restaurant with own name will open in Time Out Market that will offer his unique vision of cuisine to everyone.
Paradiso, an international benchmark, will bring its creative mixology to Time Out Market Barcelona
In 2015, bartender Giacomo Giannotti and Grup Confiteria jointly opened their speak-easy style cocktail bar: Paradiso. It not only attracts huge public attention, but has since also won countless accolades including regular inclusions in the prestigious The World’s 50 Best Bars since 2018, taking the top spot in 2022. Furthermore, Paradiso is also known for leading the green revolution in bars, offering cocktails without waste and without plastics. Now Paradiso will bring its unrivalled creative and boundary-pushing cocktails in equal measure, to Time Out Market Barcelona where Giacomo Giannotti and his team will manage one of the bars.
Café de Indias will bring an exquisite selection of the best natural coffee to Time Out Market Barcelona
Turning coffee roasting into an art is at the heart of Café de Indias. Its origins are in Cafés Garriga which was founded in 1850 as a small establishment in the old town of Barcelona and where over the decades people have met over a cup of coffee. The artisanal roasting formula established in 1850 is still used today to create an exquisite selection of natural coffee that offers a unique combination of flavour, body and aroma in each cup of coffee, sourced from Jamaica and Colombia, where some of the world’s best coffee beans grow.
It’s not just about food – there will be an exciting programme of cultural activations too
Not only will Time Out Market Barcelona showcase the city’s top chefs and much-loved restaurants – as the city’s cultural scene is as vibrant as its food scene, there will be ongoing programming of cultural experiences and events from local talent year-round.
Silvia Nuri, General Manager of Time Out Market Barcelona, said: “We are so excited to welcome our guests when we open Time Out Market Barcelona on Friday 5 July and offer them a new culinary and cultural experience of their city. This will be a unique, yet accessible place where we celebrate Barcelona’s best local and homegrown talents shining a spotlight on their incredible skills – it’s for locals by locals.
“Time Out Market Barcelona will offer a warm, casual atmosphere and will be welcoming for people as diverse as our city: families and friends will get to enjoy meals together (with everyone able to find something for their taste), couples can come for a date night and solo diners can easily connect with other guests rather than sitting at a table on their own – all while being surrounded by top chefs and their teams in action. You can come all day, every day whether that’s for a quick bite, a healthy lunch, cocktails, delicious dinners and more from a variety of kitchens and bars – it’s a place where you say adéu FOMO.”
To curate the talents for Time Out Market Barcelona, the team has trawled the city in search of the best chefs and restaurateurs, tried and tested, and then invited the very best to join the lineup. This curated selection offers an incredible range of local cuisine and in addition to the vendors revealed today, the following culinary concepts have been previously announced to join Time Out Market Barcelona:

Time Out Market is rooted in the heritage of Time Out – a publication created at a kitchen table in London in 1968 to help people go out better and discover the exciting new urban cultures that had started up all over the city. Today, a global team of local expert journalists are curating the best things to do, see and eat in 333 cities in 59 countries (in Barcelona since 2008) across websites, social media, video, podcast, newsletters and live events. The first Time Out Market opened in 2014 in Lisbon as the world’s first editorially-curated food and cultural market. Today, there are eight Time Out Markets around the world with more to come – while they are all dedicated to the best of the city they are in, each is unique to its city and distinctly local.

About Time Out Market
Time Out Market is the world’s first editorially-curated food and cultural market, bringing a city’s best chefs, restaurateurs, drinks and cultural experiences together under one roof. From award-winning chefs to much-loved local gems, from cooking classes with top chefs to installations from local artists and live entertainment, Time Out Market captures and celebrates the best of the city.
The first Time Out Market opened in 2014 in a historic market hall in Lisbon, quickly turning into one of the most popular destinations in the city. The success of Lisbon brought further expansion and the portfolio currently includes eight Markets in cities such as New York, Montreal, Dubai and Cape Town, several new locations with expected opening dates in 2024 and beyond, in addition to a pipeline of further locations in advanced discussions. While this is now a concept popular across several cities, the execution of each Market is distinctly local.
Time Out Market is part of Time Out Group PLC (AIM: TMO), a brand that inspires and enables people to experience the best of the city through Time Out Media and Time Out Market. Time Out launched in London in 1968 to help people discover the exciting new urban cultures that had started up all over the city – today it is the only global brand dedicated to city life. Expert journalists curate and create content about the best things to do, see and eat across 333 cities in 59 countries, shared across a unique multi-platform model spanning both digital and physical channels including websites, mobile, social media, video, audio, newsletters, live events and Time Out Market.
